I first met Dr. Zhao in 2007 when I was introduced to him by Dr. Julia Seiderer-Nack, who is a gastroenterologist. I was privileged to have Dr. Zhao become my teacher and study with him in his clinic twice per week from 2007 until 2009, as he is an eminent expert in treating pain patients through acupuncture. In 2010, I returned to Germany continuing my professional training, and was officially licensed as a complementary and alternative medicine practitioner. Since then, I have continued working in this field, based on Dr. Zhao's training.

Dr. Zhao has a wealth of clinical experience, especially in the treatment of pain conditions. I have seen him treat many patients with conditions such as headaches, neck pain, low back pain, sciatica, and joint pain, with considerable success in reducing or eliminating their level of pain. Through the use of acupuncture he not only achieved significant reductions in pain but functional activities substantially improved as well. Dr Zhao is always eager to understand the cause of his patients' conditions, takes his time to carefully listen to their concerns, and is persistent in helping his patients, even in challenging cases. This makes him highly valued by his patients, colleagues, and students.

Arthur - Bachelor of Medicine at Oxford University and Bachelor of Surgery at the University of London, General Practitioner, UK

In 2009, I took a sabbatical to go to China in order to study Acupuncture with a view to moving into palliative care on my return home. It was during this period that I met Or. Zhao through the recommendation of friends while he was practicing acupuncture at Beijing Hospital of Integrative Chinese Medicine with Western Medicine. I would go there several times a week in order to observe him at his work and to learn from him. I found him to be a conscientious and caring doctor, and a patient and meticulous teacher who gave me confidence in my clinical practice.

As a result of my contact with Dr. Zhao over a period of more than a year, I came to admire both his intellect and his compassion. I feel that Western medical practice in the coming years will gain increasing insights from Chinese medical theory, and in particular, from the broad application of Acupuncture in the promotion of health and wellbeing and the treatment of conditions beyond what is generally accepted as its role in the West, namely that of the treatment of musculoskeletal complaints.

Thomas Helfen - PhD of Political Science at the University of Bonn, Head of Division Peace and Security; Disaster Risk Management at the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development , Germany

During my posting to the German Embassy in Bejing as Head of Development Cooperation from 2006 until 2010 I made the acquaintance of Dr. Zhao through my wife who had the privilege of serving an internship under the tutorship of Dr. Zhao in preparation of and during her international training in Traditional Chinese Medicine at the Dongzhimen Hospital in Beijing.

As Dr. Zhao was a very broad-minded and genial representative of Traditional Chinese Medicine, I invited him to present the concept and major topics of Traditional Chinese Medicine in a series of evening programmes at the German Embassy and the German Centre to the German and the European diplomates' community starting from 2008 until the end of my posting in 2010. His lectures on Traditional Chinese Medicines and his practical training courses in Tuina for babys as well as his course in stress management were very well received. He provided excellent papers and handouts which very lauded by the participants.

Dr. Zhao showed a remarkable talent to explain the very complex background and major principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine to a mixed audience of medical trained as well as lay people. He proved to be a very knowledgeable, enthusiastic and motivating lecturer with excellent teaching qualities. Dr. Zhao was always a very reliable and trustworthy partner. He is a person of high integrity, always open and fair minded.

Zoubida - PhD of General Medicine, Master of Traditional Chinese Medicine at Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, General Practitioner, Algeria

I first met Dr. Zhao when I was in China, from 2010 and 2016. While in China in my capacity as general physician (GP), I attained a Master’s of Traditional Chinese Medicine from the Beijing University of Chinese Medicine (BUCM). At the time I met Dr. Zhao, he was working as a Doctor in Dongzhimen Hospital, where he was widely regarded as a valued asset to both the hospital and the University. Along with other students, including both Chinese and foreigners, I had the honour to learn and practice TCM under his supervision. During this time, I gained first-hand experience of his clinical expertise, research abilities, and passion for improving the health of his patients.

Dr. Zhao is a senior leader in his field, and in 2015 organized a visit for a group of Ambassador’s spouses in China to the International Department of Dongzhimen Hospital, during which time he acted as a strong advocate for the use of evidence based TCM. This event allowed the participants to be introduced to TCM practices, and allowed them to try some therapies such as Acupuncture, Tuina, Gua Sha and Moxibustion. His work in advocating for the use of these therapies for specific conditions, such as pain reduction, paved the way to the convening of several similar seminaries in the future.

In addition to his exceptional academic accomplishments, he is a dedicated and respected team leader, and an active participant quick to volunteer to assist in other areas of hospital programs. A responsible and respected doctor, Dr. Zhao always displayed a high degree of integrity and respect for duty of care while working with patients. He had excellent relationships with employers, patients, trainees, and students.

I am now specialized in acupuncture, moxibustion, and tuina. Upon returning to my home country Algeria, I successfully established a TCM Department at Sonatrach’s Medical Centre, and in a Thalaso health centre, before finally opening my own clinic. Through my experiences learning from Dr. Zhao, I have been able to integrate TCM together with Western medicine, to give my patients the highest level of care and provide them with alternative or complimentary treatment options.

I met Dr. Qi Zhao, a reputed lecturer, a specialist in Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine, when my wife was attending in March-May 2016, one of his courses in TCM, Acupuncture etc.

Dr. Qi Zhao distinguished himself for the instructive and comprehensive courses that he used to give to the Ambassadors’ spouses in Beijing.

Following my admission in August 2016 at Beijing Dongzhimen Hospital, for an acute and serious back pain, I was treated and taken care of personally by Dr. Qi Zhao. Since then, we became friends and met quite often, either for an advice or simply over a cup of tea.

Dr. Qi Zhao has impressed me as someone who is highly intelligent, communicative and has good analytical skills. Moreover, he is very friendly and sociable. In view of his broad culture, wisdom and open mindedness, it was always enjoyable to discuss and share views with him.

Lee Hon Chong Lei- Ken Elizabeth - Spouse of the Ambassador of Mauritius to The People’s Republic of China

While I was in Beijing, I was privileged to meet Dr. Qi Zhao. I had the chance to follow one of the courses on Traditional Chinese Medicine conducted by Dr. Qi Zhao, for a group of Ambassadors’ spouses.

As a seasoned and qualified teacher in Integrated Science, Chemistry, Physics and Biology, with over 40 years’ experience, I really enjoyed the courses and learned a lot at Dongzhimen Hospital, Beijing University of Chinese Medicine. I have fully benefited from the expert and interesting courses delivered by Dr. Qi Zhao on scraping therapy, cupping therapy, moxibustion therapy, Tuina and acupuncture. I simply wish that the courses could be more extensive.

Dr. Qi Zhao is an extremely dedicated professional who has a tremendous work ethic and passion for quality and excellence. I can also vouch for his excellent, patient care skills when I was admitted at Beijing Dongzhimen Hospital for a stiff neck problem. I had the opportunity to acknowledge Dr. Zhao’s skills in acupuncture, after which I was healed.

I have also been highly impressed by Dr. Qi Zhao’s broad knowledge of the Traditional Chinese Medicine. I wish to thank him for his sound health advice and prescriptions, whenever any member of my family had any health problem. I am more than grateful to Dr. Qi Zhao for the dry wild chrysanthemum flowers which he prescribed to me for dry recurrent cough. The dry wild chrysanthemum flowers have since been adopted by all my relatives and friends.
